William Faulkners A Rose for Emily was originally published in the April 30th, 1930 issue of Forum, it was his first short story published in a major magazine. This story, t hoary in five sections, opens with an unnamed vote counter describing the funeral of Miss Emily Grierson. For each of the five sections into which the story is divided is a shift in season; and, it is these shifts of duration with the narrators flashbacks that prevent readers from putting all the pieces together. In addition, these shifts in time help to create the Gothic horror of the dis upholdy at the end.
Divided into five sections, A Rose for Emily has the first and tolerate dealing with the present, the now of the narrative, while the three middle sections detail the past. Thus, the story begins and ends with the shoemakers last of Miss Emily Grierson; the three middle sections cover the time right after her fathers death and shortly after her beau, Homer Barron has deserted her to the time of her death.
The story begins at the huge funeral for Miss Emily Grierson. Nobody has been to her kin in ten years, except for her servant, Tobe.
