Contradicting Denial
Tom Junods article, The F on the wholeing Man, debuted a behind the scenes view of how the tragedy of 9/11 affected many different people in various types of ways. Some people were emotionally connected to the tragedy because of the fact that they had lost love ones in the process. Others might be emotionally attached because of the amount of sadness that flooded the united States. Everyone was scared and left wondering what was going to happen next. Junods article goes in-depth about the emotions that rose due to the public issue of a photo that depicted a man on the day of 9/11 descending to his death from the touch Towers in New York City. Junod uses a lot of contradicting terms and situations passim the article. His use of contradictory disconnects the audiences emotions, but also draws the audience in at the right time in order for them to grasp his message because that is all that matters.
In the first base of the article, Junod begins to go in depth about how graceful and soignee the picture was. In the article he says, He appears relaxed, hurtling through with(predicate) the air. He appears comfortable in the grip of unimaginable motion.



He does not appear intimidated by gravitys divine suction or by what awaits him (69). In contrast, towards the essence of the article, Junod begins to contradict his description of the picture earlier in the text. Junod expresses that, Photographs lie. even great photographs. Especially great photographs. The Falling Man in Richard Drews picture fell in the bearing suggested by the photograph for only a fraction of a second, and then kept falling. . . .He fell like everyone else, like all the other jumpers trying to hold on to the life he was leaving, which is to say that he fell desperately, inelegantly (74).
